Emory University, recognized internationally for its outstanding liberal arts colleges, graduate and professional schools as well as one of the Southeast’s leading health care systems, is located on a beautiful, leafy campus in Atlanta, Georgia’s historic Druid Hills suburb.

Emory maintains an uncommon balance for an institution of its standing: our scholars and experts generate more than $500 million in research funding annually, while also maintaining a traditional emphasis on teaching.

The university is enriched by the legacy and energy of Atlanta, and by collaboration among its schools, centers and partners.

Studying socially conscious leadership

Emory students pursue community involvement through volunteer service, coursework and internships. The university is committed to developing graduates who will become the next generation of leaders, grounded in a strong moral and ethical foundation. We help students identify ways to connect and sequence service activities, coursework and research experiences, which helps them pursue related career choices.

Emory College of Arts and Sciences offers a Community Building and Social Change minor. And community-focused courses are offered across many departments and academic disciplines, providing students with both hands-on learning experiences and theoretical expertise necessary to learn effective community benefiting practices. | Admission | Activities

Cultivating a spirit of giving year-round

Determined to create positive change beyond the campus gates, Emory students, faculty and staff are known for their spirit of giving. Emory is home to one of the largest student volunteer groups in the nation, a school of public health with global partners, and a medical center that provided $72 million in charity care this year.

Emory Cares International Service Day fields nearly 2,000 alumni volunteers annually (a few Philadelphia volunteers are shown at right), and alumni and friends worldwide are investing in medical research at Emory, student scholarships and community outreach through Campaign Emory.

Emory active in local, global communities

Community matters at Emory, and connecting the campus with the community is a defining feature of Emory’s character. Our mission, “to create, preserve, teach and apply knowledge in the service of humanity,” makes it clear that there is a larger purpose to our academic endeavors: to serve the greater good.

Our campus community is recognized for its local and global commitment to service and volunteer work. The university enhances quality of life in the Atlanta area through health care, cultural support and volunteer service. We’re one of the region’s largest private employers and one of its leading centers of scientific research. Arts thrive with student, public interest

Emory provides a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment for the study, creation and presentation of the arts. Students participate fully in the cultural aspects of our campus life. Degrees in creative disciplines include art history, dance and creative writing; Emory’s been recognized as the best among American colleges for writers. The College Council charters more than 50 student-run arts groups. Emory Symphonic Winds just released the CD, “In the World of Spirits.” | Emory Events Calendar

Arts at Emory hosts hundreds of programs that bring together students, faculty, guest artists and visitors annually. The Michael C. Carlos Museum’s current exhibit is “For I Am the Black Jaguar.” Our creative spaces are celebrating the holidays with the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, Santa’s Favorite Chamber Music and Christmas with Atlanta Sacred Chorale.
